I am starting the Nursing Program in the Fall of 2009!!!!

I found out yesterday that I am going to be starting the Nursing Program at Eastern Arizona College in August!!!! I am so excited! I couldn't believe it when I found out because this is the first time I applied to a nursing program! Usually people apply a couple times before they get in. The schools in the valley have so many people applying that it is now a 2 year wait to get in. That is the reason that I moved down to EA in hopes that I would get in sooner. There were 49 applicants and only 20 people have definite Yes at this point. 17 people are on the alternate list, which means that 12 people received a No.

I also had to take a Medical Dosage test yesterday. This test is only required at EA and consists of IV flow rate, Pediatric Dosages, Fluid, tablet/capsule, conversions, and recalculating medication. There is a class offered to teach all these things; however, this is one more thing to pay for and time consuming. You can either take the test or take the class. The test is free but the trick is you have to get a 90% or better. If you don't get a 90% or better than you have to take the class. You must have this done before you start nursing school. If I didn't pass then I would've had to take the class over the summer. I already am going to be taking a summer class the second session; however, this class would last both sessions. I spent a month teaching myself how to do everything. I sent an email to sign up for the test and apparently the test was full and so I was placed on the alternate list. I stayed up till 2 A.M. the night before studying as hard as I could. Then woke up at 7 to get ready and study before I had to go to English. I went to the test as soon as I got out of English and was praying that someone wouldn't show up. (I know not very nice) Well they only had 8 people on the list and there were 11 seats. 1 person didn't show up and there was 4 alternates so we all were able to get in. When I called to find out if I got into the program, I also asked when she would have the Medical Dosage tests graded. She said that she just got done grading them and I got a 94%!!!! I was so excited I wanted to scream and I am not usually one to scream! Of course I called both my parents and my sisters....then all the textin started!!! (sorry to anyone I didn't text)

Talking to my 2 roommates that are in their 2nd block, I am realizing how much stress and work it is going to be. I knew it was going to be but now it is all becoming reality!! Then it is 2 years, I will be an RN, and done with school!!!!

I can't wait to start Nursing School!!!!!! YEAH!!!!!!

Conference Weekend with Tyler and Logan!!!

For Conference weekend I went home to Pinetop/Luna to help my mom babysit my nephews Tyler (6 1/2) and Logan (3 1/2). My sister Brandi and her husband went to confrence, and didn't want to the kids to make the long drive. Well Tyler ended up coming down with Strep but he was a good kid through it all. Update!!!

Alright so it is finally spring break!!! School is going great! It has been such an easy semester it is so nice but at the same time so boring. I have so much free time while everyone else is so busy. I am use to studying my brains out; however, I should enjoy this break because as soon as I am in nursing school it will never be like this again.

My CNA class is going good. I actually just finished my Clinicals on Monday. I had to make one up because I missed a Saturday but it wasn't that bad. Clinicals make for long days. They are at the Nursing home from 7 am to 7 pm with an hour lunch break. I was a little nervous at first but I have met some very interesting people. I even adopted a great-grandfather! His name is Tom Rose and is an incredible guy. He is 100 YEARS OLD!!!! He use to be a multimillionaire but over the years he has donated ALL of his money to churches. Most of it was donated to the LDS church even though he is not a member. His wife was unable to have children and so he has no living relatives and so that is why he told me that he would adopt me. He has giving me some great advice. Some of it I already knew but I have been going over a bumpy road these last few weeks and so to hear him repeat what I already know is true, was such a great feeling.

English is going alright. I have never been a fan of English and would take 2 anatomy classes to get out of just one English class but I don't think they allow that. Too bad! I just keep telling myself, half the class is over just a little bit more! Luckily I have a sister that is good at English and I am able to send my paper to her to proof before turning them in! Thank you JoDee!

The only other exciting news is I am oh so PATIENTLY waiting to find out if I am in nursing school. I mean come on, seriously! haha! I don't want a letter right now, I would be totally alright with a phone call now and a letter later! Not to mention, whether or not I get in this fall, tells me where I go this summer, this fall, and what classes to take when. That is why I am so PATIENTLY WAITING!!!!
